+9 Rogue Garb (never did try the Smoke Bomb option though) Finally won the game for the first time in my 281st game! New to this forum, but have been playing PD for a few weeks now. oh you knocked my weapon out of my hands? Be gone so I can pick up and re-equip in peace. The Wand of Teleportation came in ridiculously handy against the monks though. Took me down most of the way to the caves without much trouble. found a +3 Wild Mace pretty early on along with the Splint Mail and Strength Potions. Turned out to be a fairly smart move since I only found one piece of Plate Armor and that wasn't until the dwarven halls, it was +1. I found a decent set of Split Mail early, along with finding Strength Potions fairly early on, and dumped every Upgrade Scroll I found on it. Wand of Slowness and Wand of Teleportation usually got me out of any mess I found myself in - I got both of those fairly early (slowness game from the Mage quest guy). Only ever identified/used 4 scrolls (Identify, Upgrade, Mapping, Weapon Upgrade).Ī couple scares in the hell with those eyes hitting pretty hard, but I had a pile of heal potions by the time I got down there. +2 Wand of Slowness and a Wand of Teleportationĭidn't use the Dew Vial once (couldn't because it was never full until the last level of hell), never bought an Ankh. +5 Venomous Glaive, +8 Splint Mail of Metabolism (forged), +3 Ring of Cleansing, +1 Ring of Mending I had visions of a level 7+ fire wand carrying me for a long time. What's worse is I had an earthroot seed in my pack and could have just tanked him but I rushed it. But I got gibbed by the first dwarf warlock I ever met and that was that.Ī couple of runs ago I got a wand of firebolt on freaking level 1! I went battlemage and thought I was in for a fun one, but I didn't get a single health pot by the end of level 2 and only one extra food ration, so I was hurting a bit by the end of level 3 and finally nuked myself by firing a panic shot from my wand at a crab across the room and I didn't realize I was standing on short grass. I just straight up tanked him for a couple of hits before moving, rinse repeat and popped only one potion. I managed to get enough stuff together on the remainder of 13 and 14 that I actually still beat DM300 without issue. So when my ankh popped I lost everything (I really wish they considered the wand you have in your quick bar "equipped" ). I honestly thought I was doomed when I insta-gibbed myself on a gripping trap on level 13 as I wasn't prepared for death and had a LOT of stuff in my inventory. Then a few runs later I strung together a decent enough effort to get me down to level 16. The game is damn addictive and in one of my first few runs since returning I made it farther than I ever did before. Started playing PD again now that I got my own tablet.
